When you run, your body is working in full motion - your spine is absorbing shock, your heart is beating fast, your lungs are moving an excessive amount of oxygen, your eyes are constantly analyzing you current whereabouts and sending information to your brain, and your feet are struggling to find the perfect balance, so that you won't fall over, trip, sprain your foot, pull a muscle or have back problems. Unfortunately it is very easy to get an injury that will keep you away from sports for months when you are using the wrong running shoes.
What role does the running shoe play in all of this and how do you choose the proper pair. The reason behind the great variety of running shoes available on the market is that your feet are different from mine, and in order for our bodies to function properly during training we must be able to provide them with a good pair of running shoes - according to the type of feet we have.
People with flat feet should go for a Motion-Control running shoe. If you have feet with high arches, you should consider buying a Cushioned pair of running shoes. Stability running shoes is for the people that have a normal arch. The most important thing to remember is that you do not need the latest model of running shoes but you need the model that will be right for you. Just because a celebrity you like is wearing them, it doesn't mean that you should wear them as well.
One of the sites that helped me out a lot and that you might consider checking out is The Running Advisor. There is quite a lot of valuable advice and tips on how to spot the right running shoes, and what you should look for in a running shoe that will be suitable for your feet.
