I can sympathize with those people that have a busy schedule. With the addition of our new little baby boy my wife and I are both out on sleep and coupled with law school that makes me one of the busiest people in the world right now. Nate still hasn't wanted to go in the mornings this week, and I can't blame him either, he's studying for the bar... But wait... Those are just excuses.

Excuses like the words "I can't" are dirty to me. Sure there are real challenges that people face, but what do we do with challenges that stand in our way? We overcome them. Adapt and overcome. Today after sitting and reading in class for most of the morning I got the "itch". I couldn't take it any more. I fortuitously had about an hour and a half for lunch and gosh darn it I was going to use it.

I rode my bike home, had half a peanut butter sandwich, got in my running gear and took off for the gym (it's still really cold outside). I got on the treadmill and got in three miles before I had to shower and head back to class just in time for another lecture (yeah for me!). That sufficed until my swim workout this evening. On a side note, while I enjoy the idea of training for the Ironman 70.3 race in Kansas, I will always be a pure runner at heart. I don't get the same enjoyment out of biking and swimming as I do the run.

Today was a good day, no I didn't get to run as long as I'd like (I'm really not satisfied unless I've done 4 miles for my training runs), but I did have all the reasons not to go today and still did it. I'm grateful for that runners itch that keeps me restless unless I've had my run. I'm grateful that I was able to get a run in where I could.
